
The essence of auspiciousness
Caitanya Caritāmāmṛta Madhya 8.
śreyo-madhye kona śreyaḥ jīvera haya haya sāra
kṛṣṇa-bhakta-sańga vinā śreyaḥ nāhi āra 251
Of what is auspicious, what is the essence of auspiciousness for living beings? - madhye śreyaḥ kona haya haya sāra śreyaḥ jīvera
Apart from the association with the devotees of Krișna there is no other auspiciousness. - vinā sańga bhakta bhakta kṛṣṇa nāhi āra śreyaḥ
Tika:King Nimi addressing the nine Yoghendra said, as related in Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (11.2.30):
ata ātyantikaḿ kṣemaḿ pṛcchāmo bhavato 'naghāḥ
saḿsāre 'smin kṣaṇārdho 'pi sat-sańgaḥ śevadhir nṛṇām 252
That's why you sinless ones ask about the supreme good. - ata anaghāḥ bhavataḥ pṛcchāmaḥ ātyantikaḿ kṣemaḿ
In the cycle of birth and death, in this (world) even associating for half a second with the spiritually realized is the treasure of mankind. - saḿsāre asmin asmin api sańgaḥ ardhaḥ kṣaṇa sat śevadhir nṛṇām.
