Songs on Sāyāhna Ārati
In the Sāyāhna period, Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa's Sandhya āratis both take place. Although they are not mentioned in the aṣṭa-kala līlā texts (except the Guṭikā), traditionally to perform, to take part in, to watch or to meditate upon them has become a daily part of Gaudiya Vaiṣṇava sādhana. The Guṭikā's Sandhyā "Yugala ārati' at Yavaṭa (see the end of second chapter on Prātaḥ-līlā) is very sweet, but also very rare.
Generally Gaudiya Vaiṣṇava follow Madana Gopala's Sandhyā Ārati (attributed to Śrīla Raghunātha Dāsa Gosvāmī), and Rādhārani's Sandhyā Ārati (by Manohara Dāsa). The reason for there being two Āratis, instead of one, is that Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa are separate now; Rādhā is at Yavaṭa and Kṛṣṇa is at Nandagrāma. Mother Yaśodā first perform Madana Gopala's Ārati (which Rādhā views from Yavaṭa) and then Lalitā performs Rādhā's Ārati. The two Ārati padas are as follows:
Śrī Madana Gopala's Sandhyā Ārati
harata sakala, santapa janamo ko
mitato talapa jama kala ki
ārati kiye jaya
jaya zri madana gopāla ki
go-grita racita, karpuraka bati

hu
hu boli boli, raghunatha dāsa gosvāmī
mohana gokula lāla ki
shubha ārati kiye jaya jaya madana gopāla kiGlories to Madana Gopāla's auspicious Ārati which takes away the people's suffering and frees them from the cycle of birth and death.
Mother Yaśodā places
many dazzling camphor-ghee lamps on a golden tray (and offers them to Gopāla in sweeping circular motions). Śrī Nanda-lāla's face is cooling like millions of moons, yet is more radiant than a million
suns!
Mādhura nūpura (anklebells) sweetly jingle from his caraṇa kamala and a Vaijayantī ṁālā tosses from his neck. He wears a crown crested with peacock feathers and a pītāmbara dhoṭī and he plays his rasāla mohana Veṇu.
Madana Gopāla-jī's cheeks are glossy and ever-effugent! The Devatas, the pious and the Munis can all see the Ārati because he is the maintainer of his bhaktas and bhakta vatsala. The bells chime and the mṛdaṅgas and jhāṅjarīs (karatalas) resound sweetly while Mother Yaśodā (and others) offer flower petals and pollen to his lotus feet.
Raghunātha Dāsa Gosvāmī exclaims, "Hu, hu!" (struck with wonder) by the charm of Mohana Gokula lāla. Just see Madana Gopāla-jīi's auspicious Ārati."
The song's remaining portion, which follows, is to be sung swiftly, is a kirtan of Madana Gopāla's various names.

Glories, glories to Śrī Rādhikā-jī! I take your shelter. As you are glorious, so is your Ārati—jaya bolihāri! Rādhā's blue silken śārī is waving in the breeze, revealing the bright sindura (kunkum) above her head.
The priya Sahacarīs have dressed her—Aho! Just see how 'Gaurī' looks seated upon her jeweled siṁhāsan! Rādhā's dress is studded with gems—and her body is highly effulgent!
The Vrāja-bālās offer candana and various perfumes while gazing upon Vṛṣabhānu Rāja-nandinī's gorgeous face. The Sakhīs surround Rādhā
and clap in unison as Lalitā-pyari offers the ārati. The kiśorī Vrāja-vadhūs sing and the priya narma Sakhīs twirl cāmaras.
Manohara dāsa sings: "I hanker to serve Rādhāranī's
lotus feet."
