Naimittika-Holi-Guṭīkā – Batu aggressed by Gopīs
Swiftly returning to Rādhā's Sakhī Samāja, Baṭu exclaims, "Hey durlalitā Lalite! Kamālā Nayanā Śrī Kṛṣṇa had ordered: "Leave this place immdeiately! And don't pick our flowers-lest you'll have to suffer the consequences!"
Lalitā rebuffs: "Hey you fake, double-dealing brahmin! Are you only out to ridicule yourself?
The chaste Vrāja Kiśorīs come to pick flowers for Vasanta Madana Pūjā, and we've joined the high-cultured Rāja Kumārī Rādhā. Thus, we'll faultlessly carry out our business. Why are you screaming like a madman?"
Baṭu exclaims, "Oh-rey Lalite! Our Śrī Kṛṣṇa is Vṛndāvan's Madana-and he can curb
everyone's vanity. So why worship an ordinary Cupid? Just take my advice; haven't
I helped you before? Because I'm your purohit, I'll deliver the svasti vācana (pūjā
mantras for invoking auspiciousness) and engage you in Madana Mohan's Pūjā. So
come on!"
Rādhā says, "Hey Lalite! This shrewd brahmin is a befitting purohit (Pūjāri) to
act for Candrāvalī's welfare."Meanwhile, as Candrāvalī and Cārucandrā overhear the conversatīon, they bombard
Baṭu with powder! Then they drench him from head to foot with their pichkārī Rāsa!
Thus defeated, Baṭu appears like a Bhūta Rāja (ghost goblin), and screams for
help:
"Hey Priya sakhe! These cowherdmen's daughters have soaked me! I've become
paralysed by their assualt! So, save me before they commit a Brahmā hatya*!"
Hearing Madhu's screams, Kṛṣṇa understands everything: "Aha! Those pert gopa Kiśorīs have out-manoeuvred Baṭu and massacred him! What a shame!" Thus, arriving before them with the uproarious stampede of his curious Sakhās-Kṛṣṇa glances toward the Gopīs-who appear unaffected, arrogant and transported in rapture. Then he looks towards Baṭu who is outraged, speechless and dazzled within a blissful coma!
Thus, feigning anger, Kṛṣṇa tackles the Gopīs: "Aho! You madly intoxicated ones! I see! You've unduly molested my offenseless friends! So brace yourselves for a punishment!" Thus, taking an Āśoka flower-bomb from a Sakhā-Kṛṣṇa hurls it.....and suddelny many bombs strike the Gopīs breasts! Aho! The battle begins! As both sides open fire, the fragrant scented powders fly, the flower bombs sail, and the kuṅkuma, kasturī and candan Rāsa splurts from the pichkārīs! Thus, the sky become enveloped by the powder clouds!
