Hindola Līlā (Jhulana) Kṛṣṇa-bhāvanamṛta 1

Thus, wandering through the kadamba-forest Kṛṣṇa sees a special hindola decorated with flags. But as he climbs up and sits down-it appears that Ānanda personified is served by the Goddess of beauty. So, to sprinkle his dearest Kanta with ānanda-rasa, Kṛṣṇa lifts her into the swing. Seeing Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa sitting face to face one can imagine: "Ah, an enchanting 'Prema Sarovar' now joins an 'Ānanda Sarovar'."

Just then the Sakhīs sing, as they offer the Rasika Yugala Puṣpa-ārati! And during the ārati they pause to adjust Kṛṣṇa's turban, to offer pān, mālās and candan.
After tying their oranas to their waistbells, two Prāṇa Sakhīs bend over, placing one foot before them to push. Two others stand nearby, outstretch their arms holding Pān, and when Śrī Yugala Kiśora swing past, they slip the Pān in their mouths! The other Sakhīs collect the flower pollen and tolls it over the Divine Couple in paramānanda! In the skyways, the svarga Devīs watch with avid attention, and converse amongst themselve: "Aha! Today we're fortunate to see Rādhā Mādhava's Jhulan Līlā!" However, as a desire awakens to take part as the Gopīs do, they realise it is impossible. So, through Darśana alone their desires become satīated!

As the svarga Devīs' bodies erupt in sattvika emotion, they shower divine flower petals! Meanwhile, the clouds also become overwhelmed and release fine droplets of rain. But when the rain and the flower petals combine in mid-air, they form the nectar called 'makaranda" which falls over the Gopīs' bodies to berfriend their pearls. In other words, the makaranda-droplets now appear like pearl decorations. As the Gopīs view Rādhā Kṛṣṇa above the Hindola, they sing without instruments. Yet still their sangīta echoes from heaven, and the divine scent from their mouths attract the bees. Hence the bees' madhura buzzing are like prayers to the Gopīs.

The ānanda candra of Rādhā Kṛṣṇa's Jhulan-vihāra gradually reaches a pinnacle. And their necklaces, earrings, garlands, anklebells and Kiṅkiṇī-mālās (waist bells) all dance on their bodies to sweetly resound! Indeed, Rādhā Kṛṣṇa's delicate smiles reveal their acute pleasure!

As the waves in the ocean of Rādhā Kṛṣṇa's bodily effulgence rise higher and higher, the Sakhīs' happiness is boundless! But as Yugala Kiśora's eyes roll- Kāma, which is an unfavorable element in this pastime, also begins rolling within their minds!

Yet, by Yogamaya's inconceivable magic, Rādhā Kṛṣṇa somehow gather the strength to hold on to their patience!

The kadamba flower laden branches sway with the Hindola's movements. Hence, they serve as a flower-fan to soothe Rādhā Kṛṣṇa. Many beautiful flower garlands hang between the branches. But because they shift with the swing's movements, the restless bees are unable to land on them; this presents a splendid picture.

As Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa desire to increase the hindola's speed, they both push their feet up and down. And their swinging skill astonished the Sakhīs!
But as the momentum increases, an amazing scene appears: sitting face with Kṛṣṇa, Rādhā rotates over Kṛṣṇa at one end of the swing's journey, and Kṛṣṇa rotates over Rādhā at the other! Repeatedly Rādhā appears above Kṛṣṇa-then Kṛṣṇa appears above Rādhā.

Hence reminded of their intimate Rati Līlā, the Sakhīs are unable to check their smiles! So, covering their faces, their faces, they point their fingers to gossip in frolic. When Rādhā comes above, her necklace brushes Krsna's chest. And at the other end, Kṛṣṇa's Vaijayanti-mālā dances over Rādhā's kañchulī! This brings paramānanda to the Sakhīs watching the fun!
