49-55 Quarell on offered limbs – end of Pāśā Khelā
49 Lalitā says, "Hey Kṛṣṇa! Kundalatā has accepted Rādhikā's ten bodily limbs. So just place your lips to any nine of these and enjoy your prize!"Ṭīkā: Here Lalitā Sundarī rebuffs Kundalatā's suggestion. She states that the winner isn't entitled to decide about the nine limbs of the loser. Rather, the loser has the right to decide 'Whose' limbs will be offered. Thus, our Rāja-Nāndīni places the reward with Kundalatā.
50 Kundalatā replies, "I've placed all these limbs on Lalitā's right cheek. So, hey Kṛṣṇa, just go and collect your reward. Thus, Kṛṣṇa becomes eager to kiss Lalitā!"
Ṭīkā: Kautuka (impatient)-Pāṇḍita, Kundalatā, doesn't protest Lalitā's dodging tactics,
for this would upset the Rāsa raṅga (joyful play). Rather, she shifts the attention
back to her. "Oh Kṛṣṇa-jī!" Kuṇḍulatā instructs, "Just kiss Lalitā Sundarī's
right cheek nine times to reap your due reward!"
Kṛṣṇa is always looking for a chance to enjoy with Lalitā; thus, taking Kuṇḍalata's
advice to heart, he springs!
51 Then Rādhā throws the dice exclaiming, "Daśa vāmaṅca!" But Kṛṣṇa takes the meaning, "Kiss Lalitā ten times on her vāma (left) cheek!" Thus, to follow Rādhikā's order, Kṛṣṇa attempts to kiss Lalitā!
Ṭīkā: It is a common practise in Pāśā Khelā to loudly announce one's desired score while rolling the dice. Hence Rādhikā Sundarī exclaims, "Daśa vāmaṅca!" desiring to score ten. But our Rāsa Pāṇḍita Kṛṣṇa construes another meaning to suit his own fancy. Thus, he jubilantly thinks, "Aha! Kundalatā advised me to kiss Lalitā's right cheek nine times, and Rādhikā is suggesting to take ten more from her left (Daśa vāmaṅca)!"
52 Lalitā shows anger, turns her face and quarrels with Kṛṣṇa and Kundalatā! Meanwhile, Kṛṣṇa tells Rādhā: "Because you defeated me you must take my limbs!"
Ṭīkā: Lalitā shrieks: "Kundalatā and Kṛṣṇa are a befiting match! Just as the cousin-brother is the fraudulent lampata, the cousin sister is shameless and dirty-minded! So, let's watch their yugala milan in the matter in giving and taking the rewards! How dare they try and pollute the chaste kula-vadhūs!"
Rather than try and contend with furious Lalitā, Kṛṣṇa thinks it wise to ignore her. Thus, directing his attention to Rādhā, he hopes to fulfill his desire by exclaiming: "Hey priye! Since you've won with your Daśa vāmaṅca, just seize my ten limbs! What are you waiting for?"
53 Thus Kṛṣṇa eagerly offer his face and other limbs to Rādhā's corresponding limbs! Aho! Rādhā's eyebrows arch, her eyes turn sharp, and her hands block his aggression! But as her indistinct rebuke mixes with laughter and dry pouting Kṛṣṇa experiences paramānanda!
Ṭīkā: Praphulla (blooming) padma mukhi Rāi Vinodinī is vāma manohara, an amusing, resisting, bright lotus-faced enchantress! Her body is molded from mahā bhāva Cintāmaṇi, the essence of Kṛṣṇa's pleasure-Śakti. Thus, every movement she makes, enthralls him! But when a combination of contending bhāvas mix, such as now, Kṛṣṇa's pleasure waves rise higher and higher within his sukha Sāgara!
54 But as the game continues, Vṛnda's Śārikā named Sukṣmadhi suddenly flies into the assembly to exclaim: "Ayi! Jaṭilā is coming from Vraja!"
Ṭīkā: According to śloka 8.99, Vṛnda sent Sukṣmadhi to watch Jaṭilā's house. So as soon as Jaṭilā starts into the forest, this Śārikā quickly flies ahead to relay the warning.
55 Panic overtakes Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa. Thus, dropping everything, everyone flees to the Kuñja named Kuñjenarā!
Ṭīkā: Nothing frightens Rādhā Govinda more than hearing the name of Jaṭilā! Thus, their bodies shake in trepidation! While stumbling along the path they arrive at the remote Kuñjenarā Kuñja and pause for a breather. Then everyone begins planning how to mislead Jaṭilā. Kuñjenarā lies between Rādhā Kuṇḍ and Surya Kuṇḍ. To this day a village named Kuñjenarā is located there.
